It was a historic moment in the annals of the Malacca Bar.
Jaspal Singh Gill and Fiona Tan, both members of the Malacca Bar Committee, finally tied the knot after a long and illustrious 9 year courtship.
They met each other 12 years ago during their chambering days. Their friendship blossomed into courtship and they started dating 3 years later. The word ‘courtship’ connotes not only a “get to know you better” dating process. For Jaspal and Fiona, it also meant appearing at opposing ends in the courtroom and playing mixed doubles together on the badminton court.
Their long and illustrious courtship culminated in a grand wedding dinner yesterday in Renaissance Hotel, Melaka. The bridegroom said, “9 years is a long time…but I am glad to be able to marry my best friend and soul mate.”
For those of us who have the privilege of knowing Jaspal and Fiona, we know that they share many things in common : the legal profession, a love for sports, a passionate commitment to serve the Bar and a great warmth towards people. It was a joy to witness the coming together of these two persons, as symbolized in their wedding ceremony which perfectly blends both Punjabi and Chinese customs into a unique celebration of love.
The Malacca Bar takes this opportunity to wish both Jaspal and Fiona a “Happy Marriage and a Wonderful Love Journey Ahead!”
