The committee members of the Malacca Bar made a courtesy call to introduce themselves to the newly appointed Sessions Court and High Court Judicial Commissioner on 9th January 2009.
The senior judge of Sessions Court 1, Puan Al-Baishah bte. Hj Abd. Manan and Judicial Commissioner of High Court 2, Datuk Halijah bte. Abbas welcomed the committee members to their chambers for tea and a friendly chat.
Puan Al-Baishah bte. Hj Abd. Manan, who was transferred from Shah Alam Sessions Court shared her experience on the differences she encountered in terms of court proceedings between Malacca and Shah Alam. Puan Al-Baishah also encouraged members of the Bar to assist the Bench in clearing the backlog of cases by reducing the instances of postponement of cases.
Datuk Halijah bte. Abbas who previously served at the Malacca Sessions Court not too long ago was more than happy to see the senior committee members whom she had known for quite some time. Datuk Halijah expressed her hope that the Bench and Bar would continue working together to speed up the disposal of cases. Datuk Halijah invited the committee members to notify her of any problems they encounter in the future via proper channels.
The Chairman of the Malacca Bar, Mr. Ng Kong Peng thanked Puan Al-Baishah bte. Hj Abd. Manan and Datuk Halijah bte. Abbas for having allocated time to meet the committee members.
