The annual K.P. Ng & Karen Cheah Futsal Challenge was held on Saturday, 16.07.2022 at Batu Berendam Sports Complex after being called off for 2 rounds due to the Movement Control Orders that had been in force since 2020.
Teams SIU F.C (“SIU”), Shallow F.C (“SHALLOW”) & Legend F.C (“LEGEND”) participated in the K.P. Ng Futsal Challenge. The team captains for the team were Mr. Faathir Imran, Mr. Aiden & Mr. Mahaiyuddin respectively.
The games kicked off at 2.15 pm between SIU and the all-time favourite, LEGEND. LEGEND was controlling the game and it ended with a 1 – 1 draw. The 2nd game was a battle between SIU and the underdog, SHALLOW. To the surprise of all, SHALLOW took an early lead by Mr. Senthil’s long range effort. That was an important first goal and SHALLOW defeated SIU at the end of the game by 4 – 1 unexpectedly.
The deciding game was between SHALLOW and LEGEND. SHALLOW lost their confidence after conceding 4 goals in the first half alone. SHALLOW manage to score a late consolation goal but it was not enough to bring the game back. The final score was 7-1. Nonetheless, spectators have claimed that the score doesn’t reflect the battle as the match was quite even.
C.C.F.C (“CC”) & Syahbandar F.C (“SYAHBANDAR”) were the only 2 teams participating in the ladies’ category. The ladies played the game at a slow but comfortable pace. Audience witnessed some sensational goals and the game ended in 3-2 victory by CC.
