Talk on Criminal Appeal: Defence Work During Trial & The Criminal Appeal

On 2nd April 2021, Mr. Muhammad Rafique bin Rashid Ali, an avid trainer of advocacy courses and much sought-after counsel for appellate briefs and issues on the subject of criminal law and human rights, gave a talk at the Malacca Bar Auditorium on the topic of “Criminal Appeal: Defence Work During Trial & The Criminal Appeal”.

The talk was held from 3.00pm – 5.00pm and was attended by 29 participants comprising members of the Bar, pupils as well as MMU attachment students. Mr. Rafique delivered the talk with his usual candour and eloquence. The topic covered criminal trial advocacy tips for the defence, as well as common pitfalls and best practices for submissions at the appellate stage.

At the end of the session, Mr. Rafique still took in questions from the floor and graciously shared practical tips from the many criminal matters he was involved in.
