The Malacca Bar Committee has received an email dated 17th March 2020 from the Pengarah Mahkamah Negeri Melaka pertaining to Court matters pursuant to the Control of Movement Order. A copy of the email together with its enclosure which is self-explanatory is attached for your attention.

Please be informed that as all the cases from 18 March 2020 to 31 March 2020 will be postponed, the Malacca Courts have come up with the following arrangements:-

MALACCA COURTS

Magistrate’s Court 1

All cases from 18 March 2020 to 31 March 2020 will be called up on 6 May 2020 

Trials and hearings fixed during this period will be converted into Case Management on 6 May 2020, and new trial/hearing dates will be fixed on this date

.

Magistrate’s Court 2

All cases on 18 March 2020 will be called up on 4 May 2020

All cases on 19 March 2020 will be called up on 5 May 2020 

20 March 2020 – only for New Cases (kes tuduh baru

All cases on 23 March 2020 will be called up on 6 May 2020 

All cases on 24 March 2020 will be called up on 11 May 2020 

All cases on 25 March 2020 will be called up on 12 May 2020 

All cases on 26 March 2020 will be called up on 13 May 2020 

All cases on 27 March 2020 will be called up on 12 May 2020 

All cases on 30 March 2020 will be called up on 14 May 2020 

All cases on 31 March 2020 will be called up on 18 May 2020 

For trials and hearings fixed from 18 March 2020 to 31 March 2020, the Court interpreter will call each lawyer in charge personally and inform them of the new dates.

Session Court 1

Session Court 2

All cases from 18 March 2020 to 31 March 2020 will be called up on 5 May 2020 

All trial and hearing dates during this period will be converted into Case Management on 5 May 2020, and new trial/hearing dates will be fixed on this date.

Session Court 3

All cases from 18 March 2020 to 20 March 2020 will be called up on 6 May 2020 

All cases on 23 March 2020 will be called up on 8 May 2020 

All cases on 24 March 2020 will be called up on 11 May 2020 

All cases from 25 March 2020 to 27 March 2020 will be called up on 12 May 2020 

All cases from 30 March 2020 to 31 March 2020 will be called up on 13 May 2020 

All trial and hearing dates during this period will be converted to Case Management dates on the above dates, and further trial/hearing dates will be fixed.

High Court Deputy and Registrars’ cases

For cases before the High Court Deputy and Assistant Registrars, namely Tuan Firdaus, Puan Analia and Tuan Hidayat, the Court will issue a notice through the e-filling system to the respective lawyers to inform them of the new date.

For Auction matters, the Court will cancel the dates fixed from 18 March 2020 to 31 March 2020. Lawyers who have client’s instructions to request for new dates for auction matter are required to file in a Notice of Application to request for a new date.

Magistrate and Session Registrars’ Cases 

For all the cases before the Magistrate and Session Registrars, the Court will issue a notice through the e-filling system to the respective lawyers to inform them of the new date.

E-REVIEW 

All E-review matters will be conducted as usual. The Registrars of the Malacca Court will attend to the E-review.

Kindly refer to the attachment in this Circular

ALOR GAJAH COURT 

Kindly be informed that members are allowed to call Alor Gajah Court to obtain the new date for the cases from 18 March 2020 to 31 March 2020 on 18 March 2020 from 9.00am.

Malacca Bar Committee will keep the members posted in the event the Malacca Court issue any further notice.
