Mr Sundra Rajoo, a Chartered Arbitrator, President of the Society of Construction Law and the author of several well known books on Arbitration conducted the talk on 13th February 2009. He gave a detailed analysis of the sections of the Arbitration Act 2005 and the significant changes it has made as opposed to the Arbitration Act 1952. He explained what an arbitration agreement entails, grounds of challenge of an arbitrator and his award, the conduct of arbitral proceedings extent and the issue of the applicability of the 2005 Act. He also discussed the extent of the Court’s intervention under the Act.
24 members of the Bar, 12 pupils and 7 MMU students registered for the talk which was chaired by Ms Karen Cheah.
